PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an automatic transmission for a vehicle which can obtain appropriate decelerating force when automatically performing a down-shift before corner running of a lane. SOLUTION: In a vehicle provided with the automatic transmission 14 for automatically selecting a change gear ratioγstep by step, when the automatic transmission 14 performs the down-shift on the basis of the lane information, brake is controlled by a brake control means 100 to obtain the predetermined deceleration. Since the vehicle is decelerated by not only the engine braking force to be changed step by step in response to a gear stage but also the braking force at an intermediate strength, appropriate deceleration is obtained when automatically performing the down-shift before the corner running of the lane, and the optimal deceleration curve and the appropriate car speed is accurately obtained.
