Valve between a first and second stage plumbing fitting, to close feed pipe (1) ends for first stage testing and provide more tolerance for second stage fixing, has a valve member (33) carrying a spring (30) opened by a push-rod (41) in turn actuated during the coupling of a flexible connection (16) between the valve and a tap or other appliance. Preferably the coupling element incorporates a hollow key (38) capable of a sliding sealed (39) contact within the valve chamber and a command plate (41) which extends into the chamber to contact the valve (31 to 33) and move it into the open station against the action of its counter spring (30), through a flanged threaded closure sleeve (40) etc. |
