PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bright projection image by increasing the use efficiency of light and to enhance color rendering by increasing the ratio of red light incident on a DMD. SOLUTION: The image device is equipped with a white light source 1, a color filter 21 which separates the white light from the white light source 1 by the primary colors of light, the DMD 8 on which a light beam passed through the color filter 21 is incident, a projection lens which enlarges and projects reflected light from a micromirror of a pixel in an ON state of the DMD 8. The color filter 21 comprises an outer circumferential filter 21a which transmits one color among the primary colors and reflects the remaining two colors and an inner circumferential filter 21b which reflects the one color transmitted through the outer circumferential filter 21a, transmits one of the two colors reflected by the outer circumferential filter 21a, and reflects the remaining one color. The light of the color reflected by the inner circumferential filter 21b and the light of one of the two colors transmitted through the inner circumferential filter 21b are made incident on the DMD 8.
