Production of amorphous solid particles comprises dissolving a substance in a compressed fluid, expanding the solution through a nozzle into an atomization chamber swept with an inert gas stream and maintaining the atomization chamber far below the glass transition temperature of the substance. An Independent claim is also included for amorphous solid particles produced as above.
