Method for generating a performance model from a functional model in a system comprising a multiplicity of distributed hardware and software entities that combine to provide a service to one or more users. Said method has the following steps: distribution of requests relating to the system to a finite number of groups, and identification, for each request group, of the corresponding execution data; formalization of the execution data; elaboration of an intermediate model; and automation of the transformation of the intermediate model into the performance model.
