PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately apply an initial DC magnetic field on a slave medium and also a transfer magnetic field on a closely adhered body of the slave medi um and a master carrier. SOLUTION: As for the initial DC magnetic field Hin to be applied on the slave medium 2 by an initial magnetizer 1 and the transfer magnetic field Hdu to be impressed on the closely adhered body of the salve medium 2 and the master carriers 3, 4 by a transfer magnetic field applying device 11, the half- value width of a curve showing the intensity distribution of the magnetic field in the tangential direction of a track on the surface of the slave medium 2 is made equal to the diameter of the innermost peripheral track or narrower.
