PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium using a substrate wherein adhesive force between an undercoating film and the substrate is enhanced and blocking of the undercoating film and a back surface is prevented. SOLUTION: In the magnetic recording medium having the undercoating film on at least one surface of the substrate and a magnetic film consisting of a ferromagnetic metal thin film on the undercoating film, the undercoating film consists of a silicone resin having an acryloxy group or a methacryloxy group.
