PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing system for processing an image at high speed by reducing the graphic drawing time of the image data such as of a picture image in which gradation of adjacent picture elements is moderate. SOLUTION: In the image processing system 1, an image processing part 10 interprets a graphic drawing command consisting of a command to specify an arbitrary graphic range on a page memory 17, a command to specify the gradation density, and a command to paint out the specified graphic range with the specified gradation density, obtains a bit map pattern corresponding to the specified gradation density, and calculates the coordinate position of the bit map pattern corresponding to an arbitrary coordinate position of the page memory 17. Then, the obtained bit map pattern corresponding to the specified gradation density is drawn in the page memory 17 based on the coordinate position of the bit map pattern in such a way that the bit map patterns are adjacent to each other and spread all over the specified graphic range. Accordingly, the image data in which gradation change of adjacent picture elements is moderate can be processed at high speed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
