PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a door checker for a car capable of holding a door to a minor opening position when the car is on a production line but after the completion of the car, the door can be held to a predetermined half-open position by passing its minor opening position without resistance without replacing door parts. SOLUTION: A second detent member 22 capable of pressing one side surface in width direction of a check plate 6 and a second energizing means 20b giving a pressing force to the second detent member 22 are housed in a case 1; at one side surface in the width direction of the check plate 6, a minor opening detent projection 13 for holding the door D to the minor opening position in cooperation with the second detent member 22 is formed, and a spacer member 27 is installed which makes the second energizing means 23 operative during insertion to the case 1 but makes the energizing means 23 inoperative when separating it from the case 1.
