The two rope is plaited from plastics threads and has no fittings at the end to attach it to the vehicle under tow. Instead one end is fashioned to a smooth point that can be pushed through the plait. The pointed end is pref. not metal-tipped, but is made by application of heat or an adhesive, or by binding it. DETAILS The rope is attached by first passing it through the car's towing ring, and then opening a gap in the (pref. an even number) plaited strands. The pointed end of the rope is passed through the gap, a turn or two taken round the long end of the rope, and the short end passed again through the gap. In this way, a layman can make a firm knot at a comfortable distance from the -possibly awkwardly placed-towing ring.
|
