It is intended to provide an instrument for transforming a plant which is made of a microporous material wherein a plant seed is germinated and grown, characterized in that the plant seed is germinated and grown while absorbing water and nutrients, which are supplied through open-cell pores formed by open-cell foam within the microporous material and sustained therein, via the surface of the microporous material and the thus grown plant is transformed by the in planter method of immersing the plant in a carrier solution holding a gene for the transformation. Use of this plant transformation instrument makes it possible to strictly, conveniently and more quickly and efficiently perform experiments, studies and developments.
