INCIDENT ILLUMINATION ARRAY FOR A MICROSCOPE

Disclosed is an incident illumination array for a microscope (1) comprising a lens (4). Said incident illumination array is provided with a source of illumination (11) emitting a polarized illumination beam (9) in the operating state, which propagates at an angle to the optical axis (O), and a redirecting device (14) which deviates the illumination beam (9) and couples said illumination beam (9) into the lens (4) parallel to the optical axis (O). The illumination beam (9) emitted by the source of illumination (11) is provided with s-polarization and p-polarization directions having a phase difference d=n 60 DEG , n representing an integral number. The redirecting device (14) reflects the illumination beam x times or an integral multiple thereof, x equaling (n(n+1) 180 DEG -d)/60 DEG .
