<p>A process for producing an α-hydroxycarboxylic acid compound which is useful as an intermediate of drugs and pesticides. Namely, a process for producing an α-hydroxycarboxylic acid compound or its salt characterized by comprising reacting a Grignard reagent with a divalent metal salt to give an organic metal compound, reacting the obtained organic metal compound with an α-ketocarboxylic acid ester compound in the presence of an organic Lewis base to give an α-hydroxycarboxylic acid ester compound and then hydrolyzing the same.</p> |
