Method for demand planning in which a request value is determined that represents a demand for an end product that is produced by a manufacturer. The end product demand corresponds to a quantity of intermediate products and raw material. In addition to the end product quantities of unfinished product and raw material an additional amount of unfinished product and raw material is ordered. The additional amount and or the end product amount is based at least partially on an exchange balance for raw material, unfinished product and end product. The invention also relates to a corresponding system.
