SHEET CUTTER WITH INCLINED CUTTING EDGE

A sheet cutter is disclosed in this publication for sheeting a web in a nip between two roll-like elements (3, 5). One of the roll-like elements is a smooth-surfaced counter-roll (3), while the other cylindrical element (5) has a cutting knife (6) mounted thereon. The cutting knife (6) is mounted in an inclined position on the knife cylinder (6) and the web (8) to be sheeted is adapted to pass in the nip between the roll-like elements, whereby the sheeting action takes place when the knife (6) partially penetrates into the web thickness and simultaneously severs the web. The sheet cutter itself is operated in an angled position relative to the travel direction of the web being sheeted.
