<p>Photovoltaic generator comprises a number of semiconductor photovoltaic converters each of which includes a pn junction located between a base region and a inverse region with contacts located individually on opposite sides of the converters and interconnecting the converters in series to form a monolithic structure. A photoactive face of the converter is made as a stair case type structure with a number of steps each of a width approximately equal to, but not more than the diffusion distance of minority carriers in the base region, and each having an area inversely proportional to the power of the incident radiation received by it.
