DIGITAL OPTICAL ANGLE SENSOR

PURPOSE: A digital optical angle sensor is provided to precisely measure an absolute rotating angle of a rotating member by detecting an angular position of the rotating member based on a course angle and a fine angle. CONSTITUTION: A digital optical angle sensor is mounted on a rotating member(2) of discs rotated about a rotating shaft(1). The digital optical angle sensor includes a grating element section(3) and a detecting section. The grating element section(3) has a pseudo-random code formed on surfaces of discs for detecting a course angle and a triangle code formed adjacent to the pseudo-random code in order to detect a fine angle. The detecting section includes a detector for detecting a displacement signal of the grating element section(3), an A/D converter for converting the displacement signal into a digital signal, and a processor for measuring an angular position.
