PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition having an excellent balance of adhesive properties such as tackiness and holding power. SOLUTION: This pressure-sensitive adhesive composition is composed of 100 pts.wt. component (1) of a modified polymer produced by addition-reacting a functional group-having modifier with living ends of at least one kind polymer selected from (a) and (b) obtained by using an organolithium compound as a polymerization catalyst, or its hydrogenated product and 20-400 pts.wt. tackifier (2) wherein, (a) is a conjugated diene polymer, and (b) is a polymer composed of a conjugated diene and a vinylaromatic hydrocarbon and a total vinylaromatic hydrocarbon content in the modified polymer is at most 50 wt.% and the ratio of a vinylaromatic hydrocarbon polymer block content to the total vinylaromatic hydrocarbon content is less than 50 wt.%].
