PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress image quality deterioration of an image displayed with image data subjected to coordinates transformation in image data coordinates transforming method and device. SOLUTION: When original image data on an original coordinates plane W0 is coordinates-transformed onto a new coordinates plane W1 to acquire new image data on reference coordinates points Pj,k predetermined on the new coordinates plane W1, the reference coordinates points Pj,k are inversely coordinates-transformed onto the original coordinates plane W0 to obtain inverse reference coordinates Qx,y. When it is determined that the inverse reference coordinates points Qx,y belong to a signal area, a linear interpolation method is applied to original image data Gn,m located around the inverse reference coordinates points Qx,y, and when it is determined that the inverse reference coordinates points Qx,y belong to a background area, a most neighborhood method is applied to the original image data Gn,m located around the inverse reference coordinates points Qx,y to obtain the value R<SB>xy</SB>of the inverse reference coordinates points Qx,y.
