PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an HID lamp light source device avoided from disorder caused by acoustic resonance. SOLUTION: For the light source device composed of a discharge lamp having a pair of electrodes facing each other, and a power supplying device (Ex) supplying discharge current to the electrodes, the power supplying device (Ex) uses a switching element controlling the amount of current supplied to the discharge lamp, and frequency modulation is added to the almost periodical switching movement of the switching element.
