PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television signal receiver for improving the operability at channel selection, capable of widely select channels even when the system of a broadcasting method differs and reducing the channel selection time. SOLUTION: A microprocessor 40 discriminates the system of a broadcasting method of a television received signal during selection by using positive modulation system and negative modulation system purpose individual video detection circuits 21, 22 and synchronization discrimination circuits 61, 62 respectively corresponding to them, applies switching operation to an AGC/video signal switching circuit 90 on the basis of the result of discrimination to demodulate the television received signal and automatically selects a channel.
