PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of eliminating even a flare occurring by≥10 millimeters with a simple configuration and easily eliminating a flare occurring between solid patches. SOLUTION: Image width equal to or more than prescribed density which continues in a main scanning direction is detected, flare width in a main scanning direction is calculated from the image width, and a flare of a high density part affecting a low density part is canceled by replacing the part from the front and rear end edges (front end: area changing from low density to high density and rear end: area changing high density to low density) of the image to a low density image part with a prescribed value for the calculated flare width. The cost of the image reader is reduced so as to be able to realize the image reader with a simple circuit configuration. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
