<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of the excitation controller of a synchronous machine that, although the combination of a power supply breaker (AC breaker) and an overvoltage protector is smaller and more rational than a large single field breaker (DC breaker), a field-side overvoltage is generated at the time of parting the contact of the power supply breaker, and it is required to prevent the power supply breaker from damaging and to protect a field winding by absorbing the energy of the field-side overvoltage surely regardless of the magnitude thereof. <P>SOLUTION: At the time of parting the contact of a power supply breaker where the field-side overvoltage is generated, the overvoltage protector is operated in response to an open command to the power supply breaker. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
