PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate elastic deformation of an elastic contact piece. SOLUTION: The elastic contact piece 18 is faced to a bottom wall 13 and formed into a nearly angular shape forming a cantilever shape as a whole by folding, toward the rear side, a tongue piece projecting forward from a front end of a bottom wall 13 forming a body part 11. A top part of a swelled part 23 formed in the contact piece 18 is used as a contact part 25 to a tab T of a male-side terminal fitting M. When the contact part 25 is pressed by the tab T, the contact piece 18 is elastically deformed by pivoting on a folding part 20, and its extended end part 26 is brought into contact with the bottom wall 13. A front narrow part 29 formed by cutting out both its side edge parts is formed between the folding part 25 and the contact part 25 in the contact piece 18, and a rear narrow part 30 formed by cutting out both its side edge parts is formed between the contact part 25 and the end part 26, so that the cross section of the contact piece 18 is partially reduced.
