<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single photon producing element capable of producing a single photon pulse repeatedly without using a coherent electromagnetic wave source for producing aπpulse. <P>SOLUTION: The single photon producing element has an energy level structure containing a first level, a second level, and a third level from lower energy, and comprises: a medium (14) which enables an optical excitation from the first level to the third level for exciting only one electron with respect to the optical excitation, an optical cavity (13) which couples a transition between the second level and the third level of the medium and has a resonance mode of a resonance frequency corresponding to a frequency of a single photon to be produced, a coherent light source (15) having an oscillation frequency coupling a transition between the first level and the third level of the medium, and a cavity (12) having the resonance mode of the resonance frequency coupling a transition between the first level and the second level of the medium. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
