Solution which can be detected are those which give off gas when reacting with other substances. The liquid to be tested and a solution of the appropriate reagent are fed in a fixed, constant ratio and under consant conditions simultaneously and continuously from below into a vertical tube open at its upper end. The concn. of the substance to be determined is measured by a continuous measurement of the changes in physical characteristics of the resultant mixture e.g. the specific weight of electrical resistivity using either a U tube monometer with a scale that can be tilted or an electrode - bridge circuit.
