PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for notifying power-off capable of notifying the power-off of a media convertor without using a frame. SOLUTION: In a network equipped with a media convertor 1 capable of converting mutually signals of both physical media between transmission lines having different physical media so as to relay data communication in a physical layer, the media convertor 1 transmits bit strings predetermined upon the power- off, and a destination device 11 recognizes the occurrence of the power-off at the media convertor 1 when the bit strings have been received repeatedly.
