PURPOSE: A device and a method for automatically converting a current mode into a manner mode are provided to convert the current mode of a wireless terminal into the manner mode without operating the wireless terminal. CONSTITUTION: A device installed in a public space, for reading a uniform bar code, transmits an automatic manner signal to a wireless terminal. The wireless terminal receives the automatic manner signal, and converts its current mode into a manner mode. The wireless terminal transmits a signal, for informing that a user of the wireless terminal exists in the public space, to a wireless device service provider. A caller listens to a guidance voice, for informing that the user of the wireless terminal exists in the public space, instead of a ring-back tone.
