<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system capable of efficiently managing image data. <P>SOLUTION: A digital camera stores a manufacturing number of the camera, a shop identification code and the number of times when image data are rented. A shop side computer 2 creates management information comprising the manufacturing number of the camera, the shop identification code, and the number of rental times. The management information is sent to an image management server 4 together with the image data read from the digital camera.
