PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube device which has convergence characteristics improved by changing the extent of deflection in accordance with a deflection position. SOLUTION: The cathode-ray tube device is provided with a cathode-ray tube main body having a funnel connected to a panel, an electron gun provided in the neck part of the funnel, and a deflecting yoke arranged in the outer peripheral part of the cathode-ray tube main body, and the deflecting yoke includes a first deflecting coil for deflecting an electron beam from the electron gun in a first deflecting direction 12 and a second deflecting coil for deflecting the electron beam in a second deflecting direction 13 orthogonal to the first deflecting direction 12, and the extent of deflection in the first deflecting direction 12 is different by deflection positions in the second deflecting direction 12. An area having the largest extent of deflection in both the first deflecting direction as and the second deflecting direction 13 doesn't exist, and defocusing and misconvergence caused by magnetostrictive degradation of higher orders are prevented to improve distortion characteristics.
