An automotive occupant restraint 'air bag' gas generator (10) has a longitudinal axis, a mantle surface and a plastic housing (20) holding the gas generator. The gas generator is fixed to the housing esp. by a horseshoe clip (38) which engages through a slit (18) in the housing and through an outer groove in the gas generator (16).
