The slide rail is fastened to the machine by a series or bolts with their heads in a groove below the level of the sliding surface. The groove is filled up to the level of the sliding surface by a closure element (4) made of several laminae. The top lamina (5a) is as broad as the groove. There is a narrow spacing lamina (6) underneath and then a further broad lamina (5b) of the same width as the first. A further spacing layer underneath holds a bottom broad lamina (5c), slightly narrower than the groove.
