The cam (1) opens and closes a switch (2) when the vehicle is moving. The switch is connected to earth and to a first transistor (4) via a resistor (3). The signal fed to the transistor switches between low and high values when the vehicle is moving and is constant low or high when the vehicle is stationary. The first transistor is connected to a capacitor (5), a rectifier (6), two resistors and a second transistor (9). This transistor is connected to a relay (10) which operates a switch for the brake lights (11), in series with the switch operated by the brake pedal.
