PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent uneven wear of a lining which is caused by that a disk rotor rubs a lining when the brake is released, by firmly sticking an insulator and a shim plate to a back surface of a backing plate of a friction pad so as not to produce clearance. SOLUTION: A projection 3d is formed on the back surface of the backing plate by embossing. The thickness (t) of the insulator 4 stuck to the back surface of the backing plate 3 is determined so as to be larger than the length L of a fillet 3e of the projection 3d, which fillet has an arcuate shape and extends toward the backing plate 3. The diameter of the insertion aperture 6 of the insulator 4 is determined so as to be larger than that of the fillet 3e. The insertion aperture 6 of the insulator 4 and the insertion aperture 7 of the shim plate 5 are fitted on the projection 3d of the backing plate 3. Then, the insulator 4 and the shim plate 5 are stuck to the back surface of the backing plate 3 in a overlapped state. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
