PURPOSE:To obtain abrasion resistance, by printing images on a desired surface of a molded styrene resin article by using an ink comprising a dispersant having a dissolving power in a specified range, thereby infiltrating the ink into the resin article while restraining evaporation of the dispersant. CONSTITUTION:A modified styrene resin obtained by replacing a portion or the entire portion of styrene by alpha-methylstyrene, by replacing a portion or the entire portion of acrylonitrile by methacrylnitrile or by copolymerization of methyl methacrylate, ethyl acrylate, butyl acrylate, N-phenylmaleinimide or the like may be used as a styrene resin. Images are printed on a desired surface of a molded article of the styrene resin by using an ink comprising a dispersant having a solubility parameter in the range of 8.5-11.5(cal/cc)<1/2>. The molded body is wholly put into a hermetically sealed system or a covering material is brought into contact with the printed surface to restrain evaporation, thereby diffusing the dispersant to the side of the resin of the main body of the molded article and simultaneously infiltrating the ink into the resin. By this method, the molded styrene resin article is made suitable for practical use. |
