PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission member tension controller capable of securely transmitting driving force by improving the tension and minimizing the slip for a special running condition where the tension of the transmission member is improved. SOLUTION: The transmission member tension controller is used for a driving force transmitting mechanism for driving an accessory of an internal combustion engine with an endless transmitting member, and adjusting the tension of the tension transmitting member, where one opposite member is fixed and the other opposite member is applied on the transmitting member opposing with each other. The transmission member tension controller is provided with an elastic member 25 for energizing both the opposite members 21 and 22 in the direction for separating with each other, a fluid pressure chamber 24 formed by combining a piston 26 and a cylinder 27 integrally provided with each of both the opposite members 21 and 22, a fluid storage chamber 23 for storing fluid, a communication passage 41 for communicating the fluid storage chamber 23 and the fluid pressure chamber 24, a check-valve 44 installed in the communication passage 41 and for shutting-off fluid flowing from the fluid pressure chamber into the fluid storage chamber, and a pressurizing mechanism 40 for pressurizing the fluid pressure chamber 24 when operating.
