<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device wherein a display defect, especially an uneven reddish hue of the liquid crystal display can be prevented without complicating a process for manufacturing a color filter and to provide a method of evaluating the liquid crystal display device by which a display defect which is changed with time can be easily evaluated. <P>SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device of an IPS (in-plane switching) system or the like having a structure wherein no electrode is formed on the side of a color filter substrate, the uneven reddish hue is previously prevented by adjusting the concentration of a pigment such as halogenated copper phthalocyanine contained in a green color layer and the change with time in the level of the uneven reddish hue can be guessed even if the concentration of the pigment is unknown and long term reliability of the liquid crystal display device can be easily and reliably evaluated by measuring the changing ratio of the dielectric loss generated when electric field stress is applied to the color layer an the value showing the shape in frequency characteristics of the dielectric loss. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
