<p>PURPOSE:To suppress the injuries and damages of a driver and a vehicle due to the collision trouble to the min. by releasing a locking device and opening an accommodating device cover body and expanding an air bag towards the outside of the vehicle when a collision forecasting device forecasts the collision of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION:When an air bag accommodating device body 1 is used as a bumper, a cover body 2 for freely opening and closing the opened port directed to the front part (rear part in case of rear bumper) of the body 1 is installed into the body 1 by a hinge 3, and urged in the opening direction by a coil spring 4. Further, the cover body 2 at the closure position maintains said closure by locking an engaging hook 6 by a locking device 5. An air bag 7 is stowed into the body 1, in the folded state. When the generation of a collision is forecasted by a controller 9 from the output of a collision forecasting sensor 8, the locking device 5 is released to supply gas into the air bag 7 from a gas generator 10, and the air bag 7 is expanded.</p> |
