PURPOSE:To retard hydrogen gas evolution in charge at low temperature by specifying the adding amount of water soluble glue to cadmium oxide or cadmium hydroxide active material. CONSTITUTION:Active material paste mainly comprising cadmium oxide or cadmium hydroxide and containing water soluble glue is applied to a core, and a conductive layer comprising carbon powder is arranged thereon. The adding amount of the water soluble glue is specified to 0.2-0.4 wt% based on the cadmium oxide or cadmium hydroxide active material. As the water soluble glue, hydroxypropylcellulose, polyvinyl alcohol, methylcellulose, or carboxymethylcellulose is used. |
