PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a metalized optical fiber having a metallic layer partially peeled, which can easily control a peeling shape of a metallic layer and a peeling length with a high precision to obtain a product of high quality. SOLUTION: An optical fiber 3 consisting of a core 1 and a clad 2 is perpendicularly cut to form a cut end face s, and a metallic layer 4 is provided on the outer periphery of the optical fiber by electroplating, and laser is radiated to a prescribed circular part in an approximately center part of the cut end face s provided with the metallic layer 4, and the metallic layer in the irradiated part is peeled like a circle to form a peeling part (quartz part) 5, thus manufacturing a metalized optical fiber 10 having the metallic layer partially peeled.
