PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To start an engine in non-operation of an engine start computer. SOLUTION: An engine start system comprises a starter 600 for starting the engine, a starter driving relay 300 for controlling the starter 600, and an engine ECU 100 connected to a starter switch 200 and controlling ON or OFF of the starter driving relay 300 based on a preset starting condition. The engine start system is connected to the starter switch 200, the engine ECU 100, and the starter 600, and has a normal close relay 400 that does not conduct electricity between the starter switch 200 and the starter 600 when an excitation coil is conducted from the engine ECU 100 or conducts electricity between the starter switch 200 and the starter 600 when the excitation coil is not conducted. The engine ECU 100 includes a circuit for conducting the excitation coil of the normal close relay 400 when the engine ECU 100 is turned on. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
