PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating apparatus for a wire material with coating corresponding to the shortening of the so-called step replacing time required for replacing the type of the wire material and having no fear staining lower machinery or the like with the coating. SOLUTION: The coating apparatus for the wire material W with the coating 1 is constituted of a roller 28, which coats the wire material W supplied from a supply part arranged below to run upwardly with the coating 1 allowed to flow out of a slit 27 and receive the coating 1 flowing down without being applied to the wire material W on the outer peripheral surface of the roller while allows the coated wire material 1 to run through the slit 29 formed to the outer peripheral surface of the roller and guides the coating 1 received on the outer peripheral surface in the direction shifted from the supply part by the rotation of the roller, and a removing member 30 for removing the coating 1 received by the outer peripheral surface of the roller 28 to remove the same from the outer peripheral surface.
