In drawing, the sheet metal part (12, 19) is to be held in the tool (6, 13), and in this case a counter-force is to be exerted in opposition to the ram force. In addition, the formed sheet metal part (12, 19) is to be lifted out of the tool (6, 13). If the drawing and ejecting operations are to be performed via drawing die (17) or sheet metal holder (11), using the same drawing apparatus, the necessary changeover is to be automated. In the case of a drawing apparatus (26, 27) having a pressure cheek (35), which can be actuated by drawing cylinders (28), and an ejector apparatus (51), the latter acts on a liftable slide (48). In this slide pressure bars (33) are rigidly mounted in extensions of the piston rods (29) of the drawing cylinders (28). The pressure bars (33) are led through the pressure cheek (35) to bear against the sheet metal holder (11). Between the pressure cheek (35) and each pressure bar (33) and between the pressure cheek (35) and the extended piston rod (53) of the ejector apparatus (51) there are arranged couplings (40, 72) for the selective uncoupling and coupling of drawing apparatus (26, 27) and ejector apparatus (51) from and to the pressure cheek (35), respectively.
