Electromagnetic relay having an increased insulating distance between a primary side circuit consisting of an excitation coil and an armature and a secondary side circuit consisting of a movable contact and a fixed contact, so that the withstand voltage of the relay is increased in comparison to prior art electromagnetic relays. The electromagnetic relay includes a base housing having a first insulating wall extending between the excitation coil and the armature, and a second insulating wall separating the movable and fixed contacts and the armature. An operating part of the relay presses the movable contact via a hole formed in substantially the central portion of the second insulating wall of the base housing.</PTEXT>
