PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress occurrence of miss print and paper jam by detecting the arranging state of media. SOLUTION: A controller 41 controls a carrying motor and a drive wheel train section 44 and makes a decision whether media are in an arranged state or not under a state where the media are carried sequentially or reversely. When a decision is made that the media are in an arranged state based on an arrangement detection signal SL being delivered from an arrangement sensor 31 at the time of sequential feeding of media, the controller 41 controls the carrying motor and the drive wheel train section 44 to perform sequential feeding in order to abut the forward end of the media against an arranging shutter 33. Subsequently, the controller 41 drives a first carry roller 21 and a second carry roller 22 to perform reverse carriage of the media and determines that the media are arranged when a decision is made again that the media are arranged based on the arrangement detection signal SL delivered from the arrangement sensor 31.
