<p>A hydraulic dock leveler (10) having a pivotable main deck (22), a lip member (36) pivotably connected to the main deck (22), and a hydraulic system (78) for pivoting the main deck (22) relative to an adjacent loading dock (16) platform and for power extending and power retracting the lip member (36) between a bridging and stored position. The hydraulic system (78) includes valve means (68) to hydraulically hold the lip member (36) in a fully extended bridging position while the main deck (22) is descending relative to the adjacent loading platform. When the main deck (22) reaches its lowest level relative to the loading dock (16) platform, the valve means (68) moves to an open condition and the hydraulic system (78) will simultaneously extend the main cylinder (64) to raise the main deck (22) and retract the lip cylinder (44) to pivot the lip member (36) to a stored position.</p> |
