PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a small sized 2×2 optical switch having excellent mass-productivity with high manufacturing yield at a low cast. SOLUTION: In this optical switch, a supporting member is formed by etching so that a hexagonal opening part appears in the joint of the supporting member 10 and a pair of fixed optical fibers 1a, 1b is arranged in the valley part of a pair of facing V grooves of a hexagon so that the ends of the fixed optical fibers become horizontal at the prescribed interval. Further, a pair of movable optical fibers 2a, 2b is arranged in the other side of the supporting member so that the movable optical fibers become orthogonal at the place where the end surfaces of the movable optical fibers come into contact with the end surfaces of a pair of fixed optical fibers. Respective ends of a pair of movable optical fibers orthogonally arranged are abutted on respective wall surfaces of a pair of V grooves from the left direction or the right direction by a driving mechanism 20 to slide on the valley part, and the axial centers of the movable optical fibers are aligned with the axial centers of the fixed optical fibers. |
