PURPOSE:To prevent the spacing of optical cables in the axial line direction thereof by covering a sleeve with a heat shrinkable coating tube, forming an adhesive layer of a hot meltable resin on the inside surface thereof and projecting the layer outward to both ends of the sleeve, thereby forming the connector. CONSTITUTION:The connector consists of the sleeve 1 for connecting the optical cables and a series of a synthetic resin tube 2 consisting of an intermediate small diameter part 2a which is positioned on this sleeve 1 and comes into tight contact with the sleeve and large diameter parts 2b which externally cover the top of an external coating part (k) and extend outward to both sides in the axial direction. The synthetic resin tube 2 is formed of a heat shrinkable resin material and the hot meltable resin layer 3 is adhered to the inner peripheral face thereof. The sleeve 1 for connection is formed of a hard material. The sleeve 1, therefore, holds both the clad parts C, C which the sleeve itself tends to connect. The heat shrinkable resin tube 2 further covers the entire part of the upper outer periphery thereof and adheres tightly to the top of the coating part of the optical cable. Watertightness is assured in this way. |
