PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image scanner in which the occurrence of the image problem of an image read from an original is reduced. SOLUTION: The image scanner has an original size detection sensor 43 detecting the size of the original placed on a specified location and performs the picture reading of the original by referring to the size of the original detected by means of the original size detection sensor. The image scanner is provided with an AMP section 39 for performing control for the image scanning, and a circuit for supplying a power to the original size detection sensor 43 from an original size detection sensor power supply 44 different from a power supply 35 for supplying a power to a shading correction section 41 and an image processing section 42. A CPU 34 performs control for turning ON/OFF with specified timing the original size detection sensor power supply 44. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
