PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing 1,2,4-benzothiadiazine-1,1-dioxide from readily available raw materials through shortened steps in high yield and to provide the new compound. SOLUTION: In the method of producing of 1,2,4-benzothiadiazine-1,1-dioxide represented by general formula I, a compound represented by general formula II is allowed to react with an imidate represent by general formula III (wherein R1 is an alkyl or an aryl; R2 is a substituent; n is an integer of 0-4; R3 is a substituent; R4 is an alkyl which may be substituted or unsubsituted). Further, a compound represented by general formula (I-1) is provided (wherein R11 is an alkyl of 12 or more carbon atoms or an aryl of 6 or more carbon atoms; R13 is an alkoxycarbonyl, an aryloxy-carbonyl or carbamoyl).
